First look for the small hole that the backup / emergency key for ignition made of metal used to be. Insert the blade of your screwdriver or pry bar tool into this slot and gently open the rear of the fob that holds the key. After the fob is open then locate the CR2032 3V battery and take it off. Replace the battery and snap the fob.

Note: Some older Volvos have a different battery which is the CR2025. CR2025 batteries have the thickness of 7/10ths millimeters less than a CR2032 So you'll need be extremely cautious when replacing your battery.
